A letter to students from Mr. Tranchi

I mentioned last week that it is important for everyone to step and do what they can to help the community in a time of need.  On the part of the students, you contribute by being students.
I need to ask more of you now and you might even consider it a personal favor.  We have many prospective families and guests coming through this week and we need to exhibit behavior that lets them know that, actually, everything is really good at Shalhevet despite what they might have heard.  In this case, it means putting on our best face.  Unfortunately, I also mean that very superficially because we will be judged by how you look.
We need to have everyone in dress code and it will be enforced because, yes, it IS that important right now.  I am being up front and fair about this.  I am really just saying that the rules will be enforced more closely beginning tomorrow, so be prepared.  Let me be more specific, so you know clearly.

Girls:  skirt length & necklines
Boys:  collared shirts & non-black jeans, kippot on your heads

PLEASE be within the school policies, especially this week.  If you really want to make me smile, dress it up a bit.  Among all of the issues you might imagine I am currently dealing with, this has come up as a major priority, so I cannot overemphasize how critical this is for us.  Please spread the word – facebook, twitter, text blasts, whatever – and encourage your friends.  Do your part to help your school.  Come see me to know what else you can do.

With thanks,
Mr. Tranchi
